Divisions and Costs:
Freshman (4-5 years old as of February 1, 2020) -- $85
Sophomore (6-8 years old as of February 1, 2020) -- $145
JV (9-11 years old as of February 1, 2020) -- $160
Varsity (12-14 years old as of February 1, 2020) -- $160
Sr. Varsity (15-18 years old as of February 1, 2020) -- $100
Evaluations, Player Draft and Season:
Freshman: This division runs as part-clinic and part-game as the coaches teach kids the most basic fundamentals of flag football. For this division, there are no evaluations and no player draft.
Sophomre, JV and Varsity: Evaluations are scheduled for the mornings of March 14 and 15 as well as the evening of March 17. All players in the Sophomore, JV and Varsity divisions must attend ONE evaluation session. Team drafts will take place on March 19. We use the evaluation and draft process to try and assemble teams of equal physical ability. We also believe that flag football is a great place to make NEW friends. As a result, we do not accept requests to be placed with a specific or with another specific player. Siblings in the same age group are automatically put on the same team (unless requested otherwise). Each team may have up to two coaches, and each coach will automatically get his son/daughter in the draft.
Senior Varsity: This is set up as a more competitive division. If you are in the Senior Varsity division (15-18 years old), and have a group of friends or teammates from your high school that would like to form a team, please reach out to me at
and we will place you on the same team. Players in Senior Varsity may also sign up as “free agents” and will be assigned to one of the Senior Varsity teams.
HEWYBL flag football typically draws players from Allentown, Cranbury, East Windsor, Hamilton, Hightstown, Millstone, Robbinsville, Roosevelt, West Windsor and other surrounding towns.
Games will start with scrimmages on March 28 and will run through the championship games and end-of-season BBQ on June 7. We will not play on April 11 (overlapping Spring Breaks) or May 23 (Memorial Day Weekend). The game schedule will depend on how many players sign up, but in general, here is what to expect.
Freshmen play on Saturday at 10 a.m. There are no practices.
Sophomore, JV and Varsity will play each Saturday – Varsity at 9 a.m., JV at 10 & 11 a.m. and Sophomore at 11 a.m. & Noon Starting in May, teams in these divisions will also play one weeknight game per week at 6 or 7 p.m. Sophomore will play on Tuesday, JV on Wednesday and Varsity on Thursday. Teams typically practice once per week for an hour to an hour-and-a half at a place and time decided by the coach.
Senior Varsity plays only on Sunday evenings.
Playoff games will be held on May 30 & 31 and June 6 & 7 (Championships).
HEWYBL will provide each player with a set of sonic-pop flags and a reversible NFL Flag team jersey. You need to provide a mouth guard (players may not participate without one), cleats and shorts/pants (without pockets, if possible). Receiver’s gloves are acceptable, but not required.
HEWYBL is a non-profit organization run 100 percent by volunteers. If you can help with coaching or player evaluations, please note that on your registration and/or email email@example.com.
We will hold a coaches clinic in mid- to late-March. If you are interested in coaching, but feel you would like to have a better understanding of the game, how to run a practice, etc., please reach out to me at the address below so I can get you more details as they become available. We are a league run by volunteers and we DO need parental involvement, particularly as coaches.

As many of you know, HEWYBL requires all coaches to take the Online Consussion Training offered by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). We are now rolling this awareness program to parents/guardians of our youth athletes. Attached is a link for the Concussions Awareness Fact Sheet which all should review. This Fact Sheet is also located in our Documents tab from the Home Page. The Online Concussion Training is required for coaches and recommended for parents and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion. The free course takes only 30 minutes to complete and keeps our children safe.
