Fall Flag Football Registration is Open

Dear HEWYBL Flag Football Families:

Registration is now open for the HEWYBL’s 2020 fall flag football season.  Flag football is a great sport for both GIRLS AND BOYS

Please Note: As the start date grows closer, HEWYBL will look at guidance offered by state and local health officials, local schools, NFL Flag USA Football and the NJSIAA to determine what safety measures will need to be taken in order to play a season.  If it is determined that we cannot have a season, or if you end up being uncomfortable with your child playing, we will offer refunds or transfer to a future season.

Please register on line at www.HEWYBL.com.   Select REGISTER at the upper right-hand corner of the screen and follow the instructions.

HEWYBL flag football typically draws players from Allentown, Cranbury, East Windsor, Hamilton, Hightstown, Millstone, Robbinsville, Roosevelt, West Windsor and other surrounding towns.

Registration Details:

  • If you have already transferred your son/daughter fron the spring season to the fall season, you do not need to do anything at this time
  • Registration closes August 9

Divisions and Costs:

6U -- (5-6 years old as of January 1, 2020) -- $85

8U -- (6-8 years old as of January 1, 2020) -- $150

10U -- (9-10 years old as of January 1, 2020) -- $160

12U -- (11-12 years old as of January 1, 2020) -- $160

14U -- (13-14 years old as of January 1, 2020) -- $160

18U -- (15-18 years old as of January 1, 2020) -- $100

Evaluations, Player Draft and Season:

Player evaluations are scheduled for the evening of August 12 and the mornings of August 15 and 16.  All players in the 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions must attend ONE evaluation session.  Team drafts will take place on August 18, 19 and 20.  HEWYBL use the evaluation and draft process to try and assemble teams of equal physical ability.

We also believe that flag football is a great place to make NEW friends.  As a result, we do not accept requests to be placed with a specific coach or with another specific player except in the following cases. Each team may have up to two coaches, and each coach will automatically get his son/daughter in the draft. Siblings in the same age group are automatically put on the same team (unless requested otherwise).

The 18U division is set up as a more competitive division.  If you are in the 18U division (15-18 years old), and have a group of friends or teammates from your high school who would like to form a team, please reach out to me at and we will place you on the same team.  Players in 18U may also sign up as “free agents” and will be assigned to a team.

Game Schedule

Games will start on September 8. and run through the championship games on November 1.

The game schedule will depend on how many players sign up, but in general, here is what to expect:

For all divisions, except 18U, during the month of September, teams will play one weeknight and one Saturday game per week. During October, teams play on Saturday.  18U will play all games on Sunday afternoon.

Playoff games will be held on October 24, October 25, October 31 and November 1.

Equipment

HEWYBL will provide each player with a set of sonic-pop flags and a reversible NFL Flag team jersey.  You need to provide a mouth guard (players may not participate without one), cleats and shorts/pants (without pockets, if possible). Receiver’s gloves are optional.

Volunteers

HEWYBL is a non-profit organization run 100 percent by volunteers.  If you can help with coaching or player evaluations, please note that on your registration and/or email hewyblflag@optimum.net.

Coaches Clinic:

We will hold a coaches clinic in mid- to late-August.  If you are interested in coaching, but feel you would like to have a better understanding of the game, how to run a practice, etc., please reach out to me at the address below so I can get you more details as they become available.  We are a league run by volunteers and we DO need parental involvement, particularly as coaches.

If you have any questions about HEWYBL Flag Football or the upcoming season, please do not hesitate to contact me at .

Regards,

Eric Updegraff

Concussion Awareness Training

As many of you know, HEWYBL requires all coaches to take the Online Consussion Training offered by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).  We are now rolling this awareness program to parents/guardians of our youth athletes. Attached is a link for the Concussions Awareness Fact Sheet which all should review.  This Fact Sheet is also located in our Documents tab from the Home Page.  The Online Concussion Training is required for coaches and recommended for parents and others helping to keep athletes safe from concussion.  The free course takes only 30 minutes to complete and keeps our children safe.
