The purpose for which this association is organized is to develop amateur sports programs for the youth of the Hightstown and East Windsor Township areas and neighboring townships.
Registrations for our 2013-2014 Juggernaut wrestling season is now open!
Head Coach, Chris Marino, is excited about the upcoming season and grateful for the guidence he received last season from Laura and Mike Teman. The Teaman's were instrumental in advancing the HEWYBL wresting program and we are grateful for all their efforts to build our program.
This season brings a renewed Practices will be held twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, at the Melvin H. Kreps Middle School multi-purpose room from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. While we refer to them as practices they are more like “classes” because each element of wrestling will be taught by Coach Chris. These “classes” will help to prepare each of our wrestlers for their matches each weekend. While these are not mandatory, your child cannot advance without learning the basic skills.
We wrestle in the Grapevine League. This means that each weekend we travel to a different town to wrestle against 2-3 other towns. Your child will be matched up against another wrestler that has similar characteristics as your child, like weight, age, and skill level. The idea behind our league is to teach, and provide positive reinforcement while the child is moving up in skill. This means that your child will WIN and your child will LOSE. We require a 50/50 win loss ratio for each of our wrestlers. This is because we feel that it is just as important to learn how to lose as it is to win.
The cost for the program is $140 per wrestler, plus any HEWYBL fees that are required. We provide headgear, singlet, and warm-up uniform (all to be returned at the end of the season) plus a team t-shirt that your child will get to keep. We also have a shoe exchange set up for wrestling shoes if you would like to try it out first. Please note that you are not fully registered until you pay or are granted a scholarship. Our first “class” will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd and will continue on each Tuesday and Thursday through the middle of March where we will finish off with a year-end party.
Our wrestling schedule is not available yet, but expect meets every weekend in January and February. Please note that we do not know, as of yet, if we will be wrestling on Saturday or Sunday. We have to wait for the hosting team to let us know exactly which date they are choosing. However, this is not a team sport so if you child must miss a weekend match it will not affect us in any way.
One final note…..we need YOU! At this time, we are only able to accept 50 children into the program. We need help on the mats, assistant coaches, and parent coordinators; the more help that we have, the more children that we can open the program up to. No experience is necessary!! What a wonderful way to bond with your child by learning this sport along with them. Please contact Coach Chris at
if you would like to help coach or assist on the mats; Coach Chris will make sure that you are comfortable with whatever role you choose to take.
Do not have time to help out? Have your own local business? Consider being a t-shirt sponsor instead. The cost is minimal and you will have your logo, along with our other sponsors, on our t-shirt to be displayed whenever our wrestlers wear it (and they wear them all of the time). Please contact me for more information.
